Returning Stronger — Coaching & Mentoring

Every return looks different.
Every struggle is valid.

Returning from a mission — whether early or at completion — can be one of the most disorienting experiences of a young person's life. We specialize in this specific season.

🏠

Early Return Missionaries

Coming home before you planned can bring grief, shame, and confusion. We help you process what happened, understand your worth, and build a meaningful path forward — with compassion and zero judgment.

🎓

Completed Mission, Now What?

You gave everything for two years. Now the silence can feel deafening. We help you rediscover your identity, reconnect with yourself, and step confidently into the next chapter.

🙏

Faith Confusion

Questions, doubts, or a shifting testimony after a mission are more common than most people admit. This is a safe, non-judgmental space to explore what you believe, ask hard questions, and find your footing spiritually — on your own terms.

Parents of Returned Missionaries

Watching your child struggle after returning is heartbreaking and often bewildering. We help parents understand what their child is experiencing and learn how to support them effectively.

We've lived
this journey.

Returning Stronger was built from personal experience and professional expertise — a father-daughter team who understands the road because we've walked it ourselves.

"The hardest part wasn't coming home early. It was believing I could still have a meaningful life. I want to help others find what I found — that returning home can be the beginning, not the end."

Jon is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 25 years of experience working with adolescents and families in some of life's most challenging seasons. He has served as the director of a residential boarding school for youth facing mental health, behavioral, and substance abuse challenges. He is also a returned missionary, having served in the Germany Düsseldorf Mission — an experience that gave him a deep personal understanding of the mission culture and the unique challenges that come with the transition home.

Throughout his career, Jon has developed deep expertise in helping young people navigate major life transitions — from crisis to stability, from dependence to independence. He understands what it takes for a young person to find their footing, rebuild their confidence, and step into a life they feel proud of. This work is personal to him — as a therapist, as a leader, and as a father.

Brooklyn Larsen
Peer Mentor · BYU Student · Lived Experience

Brooklyn served as a missionary in Argentina before returning home early due to medical and emotional health challenges. Rather than letting that be the end of her story, she went on to complete a successful service mission in the St. George Utah Mission, where she had the added blessing of serving in the temple visitor center. She is now thriving as a student at BYU. Brooklyn offers peer-to-peer support with the kind of empathy that only lived experience can provide — someone who has been in that same dark place and found her way through to the other side.

You are not alone
in this.

We didn't know where to turn when our son came home early. Jon helped us understand what he was going through and gave us real, practical ways to support him without making things worse. We're so grateful.

Talking with Brooklyn — someone who had actually been through it — changed everything for me. It wasn't just advice. It was someone who genuinely understood. I finally felt less alone.

I finished my mission and expected to feel amazing. Instead I felt completely lost. The coaching sessions helped me figure out who I was outside of my mission identity. Truly life-changing.
